Trump’s Georgia Indictment

I have a different post getting ready covering what I think is going on with Trump and all of these indictments, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t cover some of the news and articles I’m seeing regarding the latest Trump news around the Georgia indictment– what some are calling the “grand slam” because it’s the fourth one?

One of the big stories out of the latest indictment of Donald Trump was something curious that happened around noon Monday when Reuters reported that a document had been posted to the Fulton County Clerk of Court website showing numerous criminal charges open against Donald Trump although the grand jury was still hearing from witnesses and allegedly hadn’t voted yet.

Fulton County Clerk Claims She Was Practicing for Trump Indictment When ‘Fictitious’ Document Was Posted

Yep, the clerk totally was practicing with an indictment with Trump’s name on it on a production system. How about tell us the test plan and the results?

In addition to Powell’s multiple pledges to release “Biblical proof” that would once and for all prove the 2020 presidential election was indeed “rigged” and “stolen,” as Trump continues to claim, the supposedly high-powered attorney made multiple ridiculous claims that the former president should simply be “reinstated” and that a new Inauguration Day be set due to “abject fraud and obtaining a coup of the United States of America” – despite there being zero mechanisms in the U.S. Constitution or in the body of constitutional law by which a former president can be reinstated, much less a new Inauguration Day set.

The Kraken Is Finally Released — at Sidney Powell’s Feet

One really wonders what Sidney Powell believed she had, or was it all spin for money? I know a lot of Qanon people were believing Powell had something– from rumors of data from other countries using Dominion voting systems and all sorts of stuff they were throwing around.

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday morning vowed to hold a press conference on Monday, August 21, at which he says he’ll release an “irrefutable” and “conclusive” report that he believes will lead to his “complete exoneration” in the Georgia 2020 presidential election-tampering case.

Trump Vows to Release ‘Irrefutable’ Report He Says Will Exonerate Him in Georgia Election-Tampering Case

Seems like the best thing he could do for his case is to lay out something that makes it seem like he knows/believes he won. If it’s true that the whole Georgia case rests on him planning to take the election either way and putting together this conspiracy because he knew he lost, going public with “why I won” would be “Exhibit A” of why the DA is wrong, would it not? I mean, he’s said he’s won for 2.5 years now!

It tries to criminalize speech, including public statements. It pretends a random array of events, many of which did not even involve Georgia, make a criminal conspiracy. Among the “overt acts” it includes is a text message from Trump’s chief of staff asking for the phone numbers of two Pennsylvania legislators.

Yes, that’s the entire “act.” No, I’m not making this up. I wish I were.

On the insanity of the Georgia indictment against Donald Trump

In order to make this case, the indictment has many things that are not illegal in it, because it is attempting to show this conspiracy was planned and had multiple angles. So, it’s not necessarily saying that the text messages are the problem, but that the text messages so a strategy to win. But, how do you separate “trying to overthrow” and “worried about the integrity.” It all matters whether you won, I guess. Look at Bush v Gore or any other close election.

On Tuesday evening, news broke that Mark Meadows, one of the defendants and Trump’s former chief of staff, has filed a motion of removal in an attempt to get the charges out of Georgia and into a federal court.

Mark Meadows Files Motion That Could Be an Out in Georgia for Trump and Multiple Defendants

Lots of motions happening, and this one looks interesting. Basically, Meadows is arguing that he was a fed at the time of these events, and state courts cannot go after feds for what feds do– this should be left to federal courts. Thus, getting the case out of blue Atlanta and into some other court. Interesting.
