The End of the Movie Theater Experience?

Back in March of this year, Virtuous Blonde and I chanced the local movie theater to watch I Still Believe. We sat there, wondering if those with a cough around us had COVID-19 and to many in the audience that night it seemed like it was just the flu. There was some talk of it, but not much.

The funniest thing that happened was that the audio of the commercials got out of sync with the video, but it all seemed to fit. I spent at least 10 minutes laughing hysterically at the wrong audio!

The rest, as they say, is history. Right after that week, the theater went into lockdown, and nothing has really sold well since– certainly not enough to pay for the high prices to make the movies. Disney tried Mulan on streaming, and that didn’t go so hot. I guess Trolls did okay. Now they’ve pushed back the release of Black Widow until next year.

I find myself thinking that this could be a good thing. I mean, how much money are entertainers making to play a part. It does employ a lot of people, but are these out-sized salaries and mega bucks the Hollywood Studios make really worth their value?

Maybe this will be a time of correction, and maybe it’s long overdue.
