The Dodgers were able to close the door on the 2020 World Series after three called strikes in the 9th inning last night in Texas. The only thing that would have made it better was if they were in LA, instead of miles away in Texas.
The Rays scored first, the second batter of the first inning, and it looked like that one run would hold until the Rays pulled out their starter (Snell) after a hit by Austin Barnes, the Dodgers’ catcher. A double and a passed ball later and it was 2-1 Dodgers. Mookie Betts added an insurance run at his next at bat with a solo home run.
Manager Dave Roberts went with his gut and kept Urias in instead of going to his bullpen– which has lost it for him before, and many would argue was the downfall of the Rays– when they pulled Snell.
