Was Denouncing the Video the Right Call?

Over this past week, with all the Middle East unrest, President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton decided to produce a video to play in the Middle East basically saying, “though it was an American that made the video, it was not produced by the American government.”

Doesn’t this sound a little strange to you?  It’s finger pointing.  It almost seems anti-free speech.  It could be taken as “don’t kill us, kill him for making the video.”

Does that seem beneath the office of the President?

The other thing that bothers me here is that you know that the real problem is not this video.  I mean, these people just wait for anything they can find to justify the chaos they want to create.  There’s a deeper problem, highlighted by one poster I saw which stated that Islam was the best or only religion.

I think those in charge should spend more time trying to figure out what’s really going on in the Middle East and less time apologizing for some YouTube video.
