Prayer

The biggest impact that we can ever make is getting on our knees before the Throne of God.  You see, we can think of great plans, and try to do many things in our own strength, but without the working of the Holy Spirit in the lives of those we are trying to reach, our efforts will be in vain.

Pray for the Lost to Seek Christ

The size of the hurdle that is between the Lost Soul and Christ seems to grow higher each day.  Secular Humanism is running rampant in our schools, our colleges, and from society.  The concepts of “if it feels good do it” and the “I’ve got to have it my way right now” are in full force through advertisements, money, etc.  Philosophers have declared God dead.  Science has tried to explain how we got here through chance.  And churches are trying to become like the world in order to reach them.

We need to be praying that people will be having a yearning for God.  That the “God-Sized Vacuum” in their lives will become evident.  That they will know they have a need and seek for the only thing that can satisfy.

Pray that We Would Live Godly Lives

Our lives are a testimony to those around us.  Our reputation– our church’s reputation– is known in a community better than you might think.  We should be ones that seek to live holy lives– but that at least live blameless lives.  We should make sure that all our accounts are settled, that we are following after Him, and that we are ministering to needs.

If all we do is go out and run programs but our “family” life in the church is rotten, our church will not grow, we will turn people off of Christ, and we will have done terrible damage to His name.  A.W. Tozer once wrote that we need to be praying to be worthy to share the Gospel, and I believe that he’s dead on.

Pray that We Would See a Harvest

We need to yearn to see souls saved.  We need to be prepared to meet people’s needs.  If we’re praying in faith, God will provide the harvest.  It is, after all, His harvest.  Remember how Jesus said that He could see the fields, white unto harvest.  He knows who will accept Him and the time.  We’re to be out doing the work of presenting that Good News, and praying for receptive ears.

Only when we are on our knees will we have the power through the Holy Spirit to be bold, to see souls saved, and to make a difference in our church and community.

  1. One of things that I’m learning is that sometimes it’s not the things that you don’t know that need to be taught, but that which you know well but are not on the forefront of your mind.

This is one of them. I’ve heard a lot of people saying “I’d pray for this, but I don’t know what to pray for.” Well, here’s a few to pray for! 🙂
