Tulsi Gabbard for Vice President — of Either Ticket?

Levon Satamian from Red State is reporting that Gabbard has sat down with former President Donald Trump, and is not opposed to being a VP nominee.

Former president Donald Trump and top advisers have spoken with former Hawaii congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard about foreign policy and how the Defense Department should be run in a second Trump term, according to people familiar with the matter.

I’d be open to that conversation [about becoming Trump’s running mate]. My mission in life is to serve our country and serve the American people and find the best way to be able to do that.

Tulsi Gabbard Met With Trump, Says She’s Open to Having Discussion About Being VP

Even though Gabbard is one of those Democrats who found that their party had moved so far to the left that they were now in the center, or even right of their party, I’m not sure how I would feel about this.

Is this a genius political move? Yes. It puts a woman on the VP ticket, she is outspoken and has held her own with Kamala, and bringing a Democrat into the ticket may make Trump more likely to score some centrists that aren’t totally in his camp. Trump could say that he was forming an American government, not so much focused on the parties, and could call for unity.

The VP role also doesn’t have much to it other than what the President assigns and some ceremonies– but what happens if Trump dies in office? Do we find that there’s a Democrat in the White House? How does that square with his other priorities and his cabinet? How do you ever figure that puzzle out?
