If you promise the world, and don’t deliver, don’t expect them to support you.
This is a key to understanding where our elections are going. It seems that today we’re having a popularity contest instead of an election, and to get that degree of popularity we are having people sign up to run for election hoping to bank of the promises they can make to certain groups.
Candidates are touting their ability to be “the first female President” or hoping that a male running against a female will have a difficult time because of their sex, just like many had trouble running against Pres. Obama because of the color of his skin.
Then we have people that continue to make promises that you know that they won’t or can’t keep, but that doesn’t stop them from making them to get people to vote for them!
When Pres. Obama’s approval ratings were way down low, it was in part to the fact that the economy was not where he said it would be. Now that it looks like it’s improving and he’s not able to do as much, they are coming back up.
In any case, be careful candidates– don’t set expectations so high you cannot reach them!
