What Do You See When You Look at Our Politicians?

One of the problems I had early with elections and politicians was that I heard what they said they were going to do, and what their vision was, and then I watched when they got into office and never followed through. It made me very cynical, figuring that none of them really believed what they said they believed, or that they were beholden to those who gave them money to get into office in the first place. Turns out those feelings are pretty universal for the younger generations:

Young voters overwhelmingly believe that almost all politicians are corrupt and that the country will end up worse off than when they were born… ‘Young voters do not look at our politics and see any good guys. They see a dying empire led by bad people.’

Althouse: “Young voters overwhelmingly believe that almost all politicians are corrupt and that the country will end up worse off than when they were born…”

How do we fix this? With leaders of character. Statesmen who truly put country over party. Trust has to be rebuilt, and we need accountability.

None of which seems to be coming any time soon.
