During a recent meeting between the Iraqi PM and the President in the Oval Office, some cameras got a glimpse of a sheet that Biden had on hand to help him during the interaction with this leader. It had listed everything he was supposed to say, words to emphasize, and when to pause.
We’re told that our President is highly engaged, as sharp as a tack and that he has the same troubles with gaffes that he has always had. And yet, when we see him in person speaking, it’s worse than that– and we find that he is having people right even routine conversations with foreign dignitaries– who aren’t carrying such sheets.
No one remembers former President Trump carrying these sheets, or any other former President for that matter. How much of this President’s words are his own?
What must the Iraqi leader think of Biden with all that? What must our allies think in general? Especially when Biden’s policies tend to throw them under the bus, too, as he has done often with Israel, which has led to the mess we have with Iran now. I can’t imagine that this is at all reassuring.
