As Long As Former Pres. Trump Could Be the Candidate…

…they will try to find some way to stop him.

They’ve been trying January 6 for some time, but as that appears to be fizzling out, they are now going to try prosecuting him for sedition.

When Pres. Nixon was forced to resign in disgrace, Pres. Ford pardoned him to save the country from going through an event that would have inflamed his followers. Now, they’re so terrified of another term that they’re claiming he’d never leave the office, and that he’s a threat to democracy:

Hayes said, “I wonder, what do you think about the case of this will be bad for the country?”

Johnson said, “I respect and admire what Gerald Ford did in 1974, ’75, sparing the country from the prosecution of Richard Nixon. I think we live in different times right now. An argument could be made that if there is an indictable case against the former president, yet we fail to prosecute him, we may be doing more harm to our democracy than if we forbear. It is a different time now. And in my judgment, the actions that occurred during the Trump presidency, around January 6 and before we’re far more serious than Watergate.”

Jeh Johnson: Failing to Prosecute Trump Will ‘Harm’ Our Democracy

They must be very confident that he’s not only running but that the GOP will pick him as their candidate and that he would win. Otherwise, they’re wasting a lot of time letting him run rent-free in their heads.
