Trump’s Big Mistake?

If the news accounts are to be believed, former President Donald J. Trump will turn himself in today to the Manhatten DA to be arraigned for the indictment linked to hush money payments made to “Stormy Daniels” through his lawyer, Michael Cohen. Trump denies an affair with Daniels, and denies that the lawyer fee paid to Cohen was either laundering money or a campaign contribution.

While many lawyers would seem to say that there is no case here, and that the 34 counts may be charge stacking and an abuse of power, and some saying that the Democrats are trying to spoil the GOP’s shot at the 2024 Presidential Election, I know that the media is taking every opportunity they can to try to make is so that it is all-Trump all the time right now. It’s almost like they want him to gain all this power and attention so that no one else could become the GOP nominee because they think he’d be the easiest to beat.

Then there’s the group that thinks that they should have forced New York to come to get him, and test out De Santis’ claim that they wouldn’t help in this case! And it is a farce. It’s so bad that the 34 counts have been leaked this morning and even the lead writer at Red State can’t figure out why we’re doing this:

Of course, what’s funny to me isn’t really relevant to his legal troubles. I was listening to an explainer on the novel theory being used in this case on Monday evening, and it reminded me of just how stupid it is. It’s truly one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard in a legal sense. But the problem remains that this is Manhattan, a liberal bastion with an incredibly tainted jury pool. If Trump can’t get a change of venue, something that is rarely given, he might be convicted no matter what the evidence says.

REPORT: Trump Charged With 34 Felony Counts, Former President Hilariously Tells Bragg to Indict Himself

This is a state issue– no federal pardon available here– and if this drags on we could see the wild case where a President of the United States is convicted of a felony but will serve 4 years in office before going to prison in New York State.

What’s worse? That just like the two impeachments of Donald J. Trump were almost to counter the impeachment of Bill Clinton, we can find ourselves in a country where previous Presidents of the United States face opposite party partisans in places of power trying to throw them in jail after they’ve served. This time it’ll be Trump for Stormy. Then they’ll go after Biden for China. Soon it’ll be trying to jail whoever looks like they might win from the other side.

This way leads to madness and the end of the Republic.
