MInTheGap's AdventureOne of the things that you’ll need to know how to do for the adventure is how to look at the source code of a given web page– the actual html and javascript that goes into what you see presented before you.

Yes, it is a bunch of tags and text, and I’m sure you won’t get most of it, but at one point in time, believe it or not, back in the day when pages were more static text than data drive pages, the only way to get that new cool feature you saw on a site was to look at what code generated it and copy what they were doing.

And most browsers make it pretty easy to see the code that goes into your page. Just find an area of the webpage you’re looking at, and click your right mouse button and find an item called “View Source.” It’s also probably available in your view menu. In Firefox you can also hit the Ctrl key and then ‘U’.

With this post, I’ve placed a hidden control with a question in it– find the “hidden” question in the code (right after this text in the page) and answer it in comments… Let me know if you need help!

  1. Thanks Mary. It’s just a poster I threw together quickly with the words “The Space Between My Peers” in it. (From Typogenerator, which I found out about from elleabelle at Blooming Lily.) If you ever saw the random one, I’m sure you appreciate this as a real improvement!
